At the age of 17, Steven started working at U-Haul company.
This opportunity arose when he was looking for work cutting the grass at U-Haul and was later offered a position, which he gladly accepted. The position entailed washing trucks, hooking up rental trailers, and much more. Within one year, Steven was promoted to assistant manager, and shortly after turning 18, he became a general manager.
Steven’s dedication led him to rapid promotions to bigger and better U-Haul centers. After 7 years of success, he concluded his U-Haul career at the U-Haul Center on Causeway Boulevard. With the knowledge gained at U-Haul, he decided to start his own business.
In 1988, Steven used all the money he had saved from working at U-Haul to establish Southern Home Improvement Center. Southern Home Improvement Center is still a family-run business that upholds traditional values.
